Tomas Zastera will develop and produce the hybrid kayak

Hello together,

I apologize for the lack of news on this website, I didn’t have so much news to communicate until now and I didn’t have so much time.
I have an important news today: the hybrid kayak will exist very soon !
The kayak will be developed and produced by Tomas Zastera.
I met Tomas Zastera in Pisek (CZ) a few weeks ago and we agreed to develop the boat together, we had indeed very similar concepts and I’m convinced that we have everything to win in working together !

The concept: Tomas uses a prototype for years to run the Ardèche Marathon, a similar concept to the hybrid kayak and a similar construction to many kayaks which were built by competitors especially for this special event.

K1 River (Zastera)

He decided to develop its own concept based on a new shape he created this year: the K1 Master.
The K1 Master is a race boat dedicated to long distances, it’s a very good compromise between stability and speed for flat water (it’s almost as fast as a sprinter but much more stable). The seat (race or wildwater position) should allow different level of stability and the upper part will be designed to behave progressively in wild water of waves thanks to a relatively wide stern which ensure a good volume out of the water.
Have a look at the photos of the K1 Master, I’ll provide you more information as soon as I’ll get them.

Youtube video review

As I was looking for similar projects, I noticed a few videos on Youtube and on some other platforms. I would like to share a few links with you.

First: mine on the Danube with the Bug, my current boat, to highlight some aspects of this kayak:

The second one deals with the XOR (Extreme Ocean Racer) from Sweden. I’ve chosen this video because I notice many similarities in the behaviour in comparison with the Bug:

The 3rd is a comparison made by Epic between a touring sea kayak and a competition sea kayak:

Training: an article and a few ideas !

Hello together,

Today I would like to post a new link to an interesting article covering the question of training and technique.

The question of training and physical capabilities is a decisive thematic, especially if you would like to  participate to competitions.
Indeed, even if you can’t or don’t want to train every day, you can focus your preparation good enough to enjoy your races and even to be competitive !

The technique increases in parallel and especially if you take enough time to cover this aspect during your training time. A detail can make you win several minutes at the end…

I wrote here an example of training program, don’t hesitate to comment it and spread it around if you like it !

Article from New Zealand about multipurpose kayak

Hello together,
I’ve got an interesting article about the multipurpose kayaks.
It describes a little more about the compromise to find to have a stable but efficient kayak and I generally agree with the conclusion of the author (Michael Jacques).
It may be a little old but many of the presented models still exists (but of the ones from the company Venture Out,  which seems to have disappeared).
This document is available here (do right click and save).

Don’t hesitate to comment on this !
See you later for the next post !

Finally new links to external projects

I started adding external links in the external link section.

At the moment there are only a few links to constructors and a few forums.
A few more will come soon.

English version of the technical specification

I finally shared the English specification, which is now situated, like the others,  on the internal document link page !

So if you not specificly read French or German, have a look at it !

Looking for technical details? Can you help me?

Given that my knowledges about the conctete way to produce a boat are limited at the moment, I’m looking for information about the way boats are industrially currently produced.

Which kind of fibers are used? Impregnated material or simple one?
Where to find material? Better arranging it locally or order it online?
Does vacuum production require much more advanced technic or is it simple to implement?

You can share some information with me? Thanks in advance  for contacting me
